Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, LCDFI Chairman, Mary Jane C. Ortega, distributed to Barangay Nagyubuyuban, San Fernando, La Union, 200 cacao seedlings last October 19. The activity was in pursuit of LCDFI's goal to help farmers have other sources of livelihood by growing cacao and cashew trees. Another 150 seedlings will be given out to Nagyubuyuban to complete the 350 seedlings of 50 seedlings each for the 7 Puroks of the Barangay. Two hundred seedlings (200) were given out to Mabanengbeng.
As a continuity scheme for the project, President Don Ting of the Rotary Club of San Fernando City, La Union and President Dianne Gatchalian of the Inner Wheel Clubs, San Fernando City, La Union vowed to give an incentive of P10 / seedling that survives as of January 2021. Another P10 / seedling was promised for those that will survive until October 2021. Moreover, a five thousand (P5,000) peso cash donation was given by Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member (SPM), Geraldine "Denny" Ortega for the purchase of 500 cacao seedlings. For the year 2020, the foundation has already disposed 1,000 seedlings. One hundred fifty (150) more cacao seedlings are intended to be delivered to Barangay Birunget, San Fernando, La Union. The foundation aims to endow other identified barangays with cacao seedlings throughout the year. These undertakings that make the foundation solid and intact, the LCDFI - a group of people with generous hearts, are willing to take the extra mile and make a difference one step at a time. The beneficiaries salute the Lorma Foundation that continues with their commitment despite these trying times.
